Let’s Forget The Past And Focus On The Future – Farouk Aliu Mahama To Legon Dagbon Students

Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, the son of the former Vice-president, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, has urged University of Ghana Dagbon Students Association(DASA) to put the bad past behind them and focus on making formidable future for themselves and Dagbon at large.

As part of the activities to bid a farewell to graduates from the Dagbon catchment area during organized a send-off dinner to honour them for their enormous contributions to the association, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama observed that that unity and one purpose is the way to go.

He bemoaned the yawning development gap between Dagbon and other areas underscoring the need for the youth who owe it a responsibility to fasten the pace of Dagbon progress.

He intimated “as the youth today, we have the future of Dagbon in our hands and I urge you all tonight that let us neither look back, right nor left. Let us look forward. Our preoccupation should be the Progress and Development of Dagbon. Let us bury the bad past and grow today and the future. The world is leaving us far behind”.

Offering pills of encouragement to the existing graduates, Alhaji Farouk referenced the humble beginnings of the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama yet he rose to be the longest-serving vice president. “If my late father was the son of a ‘koko’ seller and a poor father yet with Allah’s blessings and his known discipline he rose to be a Vice-president, what then makes you youth of Dagbon today different?” He quizzed.

In a spirit of kindness, Alhaji donated a financial package to support the union. He also pledged his readiness to give his little to support Dagbon youth because he believes the development of the youth means an assuring future for Dagbon. In attendance also were Chief Hafiz Demanaa(Entertainment Chief of Tamale), Senior lecturers of the University and other student leaders.
