Elmina Bridge And Fish Processing Plant White Elephants – Nduom

Politician and businessman, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has bemoaned the poor construction work on the Elmina Bridge which serves as the main route from Elmina town to the market centre and other important places in the Central Region.

He observed that the quality of work on the bridge does not match up to standard and therefore want the contractors taken to task for a shoddy job.

The Chief Executive Officer of Groupe Nduom and Founder of a Progressive People’s Party(PPP) expressed disappointed about the poor construction the bridge and Elmina Fish Processing Plant have become white elephants because they are not serving their intended purposes.

At a ceremony to lift the ban placed on drumming and fishing activities at the Elmina Benya Lagoon, he appealed to the government to ensure that quality work is executed by contractors who are awarded such projects

In 2014, the government commenced work to replace the metallic slabs that were built on the bridge about a decade or two ago to replace the collapsed concrete floor of the bridge.

The new 75metre span pre-stressed-concrete box-girder bridge was  built by the government at a contract sum f GH¢ 19,061,381.21

According to MyNewsGh.com’s Hajia Asana Gordon who was at the event, the business magnate was not happy about the state of affairs of the bridge and therefore reiterated calls for measures to be put in place in saving the future of the bridge.

He  also appealed to the government to support and assist Ghanaians who are into banking business rather than embracing and encouraging foreigners in the sector

The Director of Diaspora Relations Office, Mr. Kwasi Awua Ababio said his outfit is working tirelessly to make sure that diasporans contribute to the developmental projects at their various community.
