The month of December is always a moment of happiness for many Ghanaians. It is not just a month to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ but also usher in the beginning of a new year.
But amidst the happiness and celebration, there remain specific fears most Ghanaians face regarding sad events that could happen in the last month of the year. Yen.com.gh lists some of such fears.
The month of December can’t be complete without a stable distribution of power. Erratic power supply affects everything, from business to households. In the month of December, many Ghanaians could be bracing themselves for the unexpected related to power supply.
2. Road accidents
The end of the year often records various cases of road accidents. In a holiday season, we mostly find revelers making various travels to their hometowns and also tourist sites. But many of them never seem to return. The road safety commission has over the years released disturbing statistics which show that things just don’t get better in December.
3. Severe Harmattan
Last December saw the Harmattan come out averagely mild with Ghanaians saying the weather was not all that severe. Should things get worse this December, we would have to reconsider how best we could enjoy the holiday season.
4. Fire disasters
Fire disasters often tend to darken the beauty of Christmas, especially during the dry season. This is a month which always gets the fire service very busy with fires. Ghanaians will just hope this never happens.
5. Loss of lives in the sea
One other disaster that most Ghanaians pray would not happen is with the issue of people drowning in the sea or pools. The holiday season is a moment of beach jams but unfortunately, we often see this happen during the month of December.
As we usher in the month of December, we all may have to ensure safety standards in everything we do.
