Support Akufo-Addo- Mahama urges international community

The outgoing president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has urged the international community to extend the same support he received during his tenure as president to incoming Akufo-Addo government.

President Mahama stated that as the country was transitioning to a new government, it needed the same support it received from it foreign relations.

President Mahama said this at the Flagstaff House earlier today, when he received credentials from envoys from the Indian High Commission, and the Iranian and Moroccan Embassies.

Mahama stated that, “India has been one of the greatest and closest friends of Ghana… We wish to express our appreciation to India.”

He expressed confidence that Ghana and India would continue to work together in a strong partnership, and that the new administration would work just as cooperatively with them.

He also added, “We are in transition from one government to another and Ghana has consolidated her democratic credentials. We are on the task of completing the transition.

President Mahama had also called the last cabinet meeting of his administration today, to finalise the last details of his presidency and the last 8 years of the NDC administration.

On January 7, 2017, John Mahama will hand over the seat of government to the NPP administration under the incoming president Nana Akufo-Addo.
