Ghanaian female rapper and songwriter, Eno Barony, says she is looking forward to winning the ‘Best Rapper of the Year’ award at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 2018.
The rap category for VGMA 2018 consists of hot MCs such as Teephlow, Sarkodie, Lil Shaker, Kojo-cue, and Sarkcess Label rapper, Strongman who will all jostle for the award.
In an exclusive interview with Adomonline’s Dennis Adu on Adom FM’s Kasahari Level, the ‘Yaa Asantewaa’ of Rap expressed her happiness for being the only Ghanaian female to be nominated for the ‘rap’ category.
Asked what inspired her to write the ‘Fear No Man’ song that got her nominated, Eno said ‘It wasn’t easy thinking about writing metaphors, wordplay and all that a rap requires to be a hit song…”
She continued that “I feel like my work has been recognized. I have been doing rap for a long time and it’s difficult for females to penetrate the rap category; I feel so good …” Eno asserted.
Eno Barony further urged her fans to massively vote for her to cop the award in the ‘titan’ group.
She said: “With God on our side we can win it. Definitely if the votes go through, I will win. I am eyeing it. Who wouldn’t want to win that…”, she asked rhetorically.
