The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ideal Financial Holdings, Dr Nii Kotei Dzani, emerged the win in the election to elect a Greater Accra rep to the Council of State.
Mr Dzani polled 20 votes followed by Nene Kanor Attiapah with 12 votes. The remaining candidates had zero votes.
Nii Kotei Dsani will be representing the Greater Accra region on the Council of State.
“I want to thank the various district assemblies for supporting me… I’m going to bring my entrepreneurial skills to bring to the fore. I will hold a press conference tomorrow to outline all my vision,” he said during his victory speech.
A former Youth and Sports Minister and Accra Mayor E.T Mensah of the opposition National Democratic Congress pulled out of the race at the last minute.
Meanwhile, In the Ashanti region, Nana Owusu achiaa Brempong obtained 45 votes to beat Manhyia-backed Mawerehene who got 5 votes.
In the Brong Ahafo region, 73-year old Kodwo Agyenim-Boateng emerged as the winner of the Council of State elections held at the Sunyani Municipal Assembly hall. He polled 21 out of the 50 votes cast beating his closest contender Nana Osei Yaw Barimah who polled 11.
He is the father of Berekum west member of parliament Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng.
In the Central region, the vice president of it Regional House of Chiefs, Oberempong Appiah Nuamah II has won with 11 votes.
In Eastern region,Nana Somuah Mireku has won the slot after the 63-year old accountant garnered 26 votes out of the 52 votes cast to beat his closest contender, Ambassador Afari Apeadu Donkor who had 23 votes
A total of 113 candidates between the ages of 23 and 84 are contesting in the election, which is taking place in all regional capitals across the country.
