1. The first email

Sometime in late 1971, a computer engineer named Ray Tomlinson sent the first e-mail message. “I sent a number of test messages to myself from one machine to the other,” he recalls now. “The test messages were entirely forgettable. . . . 2. The first video on Youtube.

In 2005, YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim uploaded a video of himself checking out elephants at the San Diego Zoo. The video has seen been seen by over 42 million people.
