Renowned Ghanaian investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has allegedly released his latest video.
Dubbed “Bad Cops”, the video shows some persons who appear to be police officers engaged in various acts of corruption.
“Bad Cops” is the last component of the Tiger Eye PI’s “Ghana’s Soul Takers” documentary which shows some police officers involved in various acts, especially on major roads in Ghana.
“Ghana’s Soul Takers” is designed to expose people who play various roles in causing accidents on the roads.
Information available to us ndicates that the chief culprit is the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), which is responsible for issuing licenses to drivers.
It is alleged that they have at various points in time given licenses to cripples, madmen, minors as well as other unqualified persons in exchange for money.
The hour-long documentary depicts some police officers who abuse their powers and make money off Ghanaians.
Anas’ previous piece on alleged corrupt acts by some judges generated a lot of debate amongst Ghanaians when their receipt of gifts and inducements become public knowledge.
It was alleged that these developments affected their decisions in court as they sometimes allowed some wrongdoers to go scot-free.
With respect to his latest video, the motive for its release appears to be a desire to create road safety awareness and responsibilities among the general Ghanaian public, with a special focus on the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Police Service.
